The FOMO effect

The FOMO effect
Chilling at home in your oldest pyjamas, NETFLIX streaming till 2am or maybe just staring at the ceiling and ding!. You check your story views and suddenly-BOOM-everyone is out. Hanging. Laughing. Living their best lives. And you're like, "Wait. Why am I not invited? Am I real? Do I even exist?"
Welcome to FOMO---aka the FEAR OF MISSING OUT. My part-time job. No pay, just stress.
Let's break it down. You skip one day at school, and suddenly there's a new group chat, a new inside joke, and apparently, two people are better acquainted now?? How does everything happen on the ONE DAY you stay home?!
Social media makes it 10x worse. Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, its like a 24/7 highlight reel of everything you're not doing. Your friends are posting selfies at parties, cafes, random rooftops, and you're just there, in bed, holding your phone like it's your emotional support water bottle.
And don't even get me started on the group photos. They always post them with captions like "Just the OGs ❤️❤️" and you're zooming in like, "OGs? Since when? I was literally there last week😂"
But here's the truth no one tells you: half the time, you're not missing out on anything. That party? it ended early. The food? Cold. The playlist? Filled with the most depressing songs. The vibes? Ughhh weird. And guess what? Someone probably wished they were doing nothing like you
Yeah, FOMO sucks, but it's mostly just your brain convincing you that everyone else is living their dream life while you're stuck being... well, NORMAL. And let's be real for a second, most of the "perfect moments" are posted, FILTERED for a clout
So next time you feel the FOMO kicking in, just remember: peace, snacks, and sleep are also elite. You're not missing out, you're chilling. And that, my friend, is the REAL FLEX
